Problem:
93.2% of people with vision impairments lose their sight due to acquired causes, with 58,6% of cases resulting from diseases. Those who experience sudden vision loss face significant challenges when returning to daily life and overcoming societal perceptions.For a person with a visual impairment, it is not just important to receive information, but to maintain interaction with the world—to learn, create, and remain involved in the system of human relationships.
When ubiquity ceases to be the primary criterion for product success, attention to the needs of inclusive users becomes a source for new forms of empathy, technology, and interaction scenarios.
Solution:
This project investigates how technology can serve as a mediator between a person, their environment, and their loved ones, fostering independence without sacrificing social connections.
From the perspective of the task setter—the Lunnen brand—the project’s relevance lies in the potential to expand the product line and establish a new value proposition. Creating this ecosystem allows the brand to demonstrate social responsibility, explore novel device use scenarios, and move beyond the traditional concept of a mass-market product.
The visual language of Lunnen is rooted in minimalism, functionality, and the absence of visual clutter. These principles are particularly important for users with visual impairments; therefore, the project’s form is based on simple volumes, rounded edges, and large interaction zones.
Concept and Proposal
The brand philosophy centers on creating technology and its «companions» that inspire users toward new discoveries.
My proposal is a new brand companion—the Lunnen Prism ecosystem designed for visually impaired users. The project demonstrates one possible direction for the brand’s evolution into a new product category.
For the user, the relevance of the project lies in the need for an intuitive system of devices that does not require constant product changes based on evolving needs. The user receives not a single device, but a cohesive interaction environment.
Competitor Analysis:Existing assistive solutions are either medically utilitarian or technologically overloaded. This necessitates an inclusive device that integrates accessibility, ergonomics, and contemporary user experience.The project’s goal is a unified ecosystem that merges functionality, accessibility, and emotional appeal.
Lunnen Prism — an ecosystem for working with textual and visual information. The central element is an adaptive reader. Surrounding it is a projection module featuring a voice AI assistant and a magnetic stylus for input.
