Chicha and the boy are a simple metaphor for escaping one’s own fears—an attempt to hide from them behind masks of fabricated courage, cruelty, indifference, and so on. In the end, by changing forms and substances, fear catches up to everyone, no matter how far they run from it. Initially, I wasn’t layering in any deep meanings; rather, I viewed it as another creative challenge to myself—to produce a complete video from start to finish based solely on my own ideas. I was solely responsible for the sound effects, so a huge thank you to Dmitry Prosvirnin for his help.
