The interview series, «I Was 20, ” is a collection of videos shot by students from the Institute of Cinema and Television: the program aims to bridge the generational gap by having the younger generation engage with the experience of the older generation.
The program’s title sequence metaphorically depicts the beginning of a young protagonist’s journey, where they encounter a more experienced character and approach them.
We are approaching the program’s protagonist from the perspective of inexperience and childhood—attempting to explore, discover, and construct—which is why naïve, tactile graphics were chosen for the program’s visual solution.
The key metaphor for the identity and opening sequence is a children’s building block set—shapes that can be assembled and disassembled.
In the program «I Was 20, ” we eliminated a host-moderator to achieve a therapeutic, intimate atmosphere for the conversation and to depict the composite image of a questioning generation.
Typography is structured on the principles of a constructive system. Elements support each other, assembling into towers.
The program has a therapeutic nature. The overarching goal of the program is to provide guidance for the younger generation—how to navigate life and make decisions in a rapidly changing world. It is a search for answers, authorities, hope, and inspiration.
