Concept and Philosophy: «Ty-Ozero» is a dialogue between tradition and modernity, where the banya remains a place of purification while transforming into a symbolic space for contemplation and deep tranquility. The word «ty» in the Komi language means «lake.» «Ty — Ozero» (You — Lake) is a metaphor, a statement. In the calm surface of a lake, one sees the reflected beauty of the world. By turning inward to harmony and silence, a person opens their heart to the world.
Key Design Elements:
Architecture and Space:
High ceilings, visually balanced by monumental (1.4 m) cornices, emphasize scale while maintaining intimacy. Rounded, «embracing» walls evoke a sense of maternal warmth.
The central feature is a wooden «cradle» suspended above the floor, immersing a person in a state of weightlessness. Above it stretches a «light lake.»
The eye is drawn to a vertical composition with egg-shaped volumes—a minimalist symbol of the endless cycle of life.
The focal point of the space is an unconventional, artistically designed fireplace.
Color and Light: Soft light flowing from the oval «lake» on the ceiling creates the effect of a natural dawn, gently enveloping the visitor. A monochrome coral-orange palette unifies the floor, walls, and ceiling, enhancing the sense of wholeness and transforming the steam room into a timeless sanctuary.
Functionality and Tradition:

A steam room with a SANGENS stove for authentic Russian steam.
A plunge pool for contrast cooling.
A hanging cradle and a fireplace zone for contemplation.
The use of three types of wood in the steam room enriches the space with aromatic and tactile sensations.

Custom designs—the fireplace, cornices, and lighting elements—were created in collaboration with industrial manufacturers. The factory «Ruspanel» precisely fabricated 3D objects based on the author’s blueprints.
Cultural Code: The project reimagines the bathing ritual, merging the steam traditions of the Komi people with modern minimalist aesthetics through meaningful imagery.
