A floor lamp «The grass will sprout» Author Natalia Malakhova Craft workshop Ohtenskaya Sloboda
And the grass will grow again through all the obstacles and misfortune. E. Ryazanov
Living shoots will definitely emerge on the black ashes. Give it time and the wounds will heal. Time will heal any misfortunes. Bead by bead, the stem grows, turning from black-charcoal to living patterned. So, day after day, joy returns to life.
The roots nourish a blade of grass. Knowing one’s roots strengthens a person. The shape of the lamp refers to chiseled balusters.
The carving motifs are spontaneous and chaotic. They alternate traditional geometric patterns and natural textures of fruits and seeds — symbols of the continuation of life.
The metal axis inside makes the lamp rigidly vertical, but the uneven shapes of the beads create a feeling of lightness and readiness to bend at the slightest breeze. This is a metaphorical reminder that all living things are sensitive and fragile, and a caring attitude is the only way to preserve the rich diversity of the world around us.
The lamp ‘blade of grass’ ends with a modest fairy-tale flower, inside of which the light glows like a weak candle flame. The interior becomes mysteriously magical and you want to think only about the good, because our fairy tales always have a happy ending.
The lamp creates a soft night lighting of the interior, disappearing into the darkness. Light fills the bowl of the flower, showing the texture of old wood, which is associated with a lived-in home, warmth and coziness.
«Wandering» with your hand over carved beads is a very pleasant, relaxing activity.
The lamp makes a comfortable ensemble with a sofa or chair. Each lamp is unique, although created in pairs.
Suitable for owners of bold, brutal interiors who want to bring a functional art object with a Russian character into their world.
