City Sketch Series: Paper and Pencils 2021–2025
The modern city generates a massive volume of images, messages, and impressions. In this race, survival often belongs not to the most beautiful or interesting, but to the most visible.
Sketching, in this context, becomes a practice that is inherently losing the competition. A drawing made by hand
cannot compete with advertising or the endless stream of visual content.
Or can it?
In the exhibition, sketches are placed over a promotional banner that also features posters and flyers. This presentation mimics the logic of a modern city, where images exist amidst continuous competition.
The size of the sketch series pages is comparable to that of advertising materials. The artist wants to test whether life drawing can win the battle for the viewer’s attention. Will the sketches be noticed, considered, or will they dissolve into visual noise, causing the viewer to pass by?
