The global city today is saturated with visual signs that compete for our attention. Street signs, traffic signals, logos, digital interface elements, snippets of news feeds, and endless smartphone notifications—all of this merges into a single, continuous semantic noise. We have become so accustomed to this background that we stop noticing it, yet it continues to affect our perception, cluttering our cognitive space.
A kinetic mobile is a physical manifestation of this «information smog.» Its suspended elements are deconstructed symbols, ripped from their familiar contexts. They no longer carry a utilitarian function: a letter without a word, an arrow without a directional guide, an abstract pictographic symbol. All of them are assembled into one complex system.
Thanks to the kinetic mechanism, these symbols are in constant, chaotic motion. They hover, swirl, and overlap, creating a visual labyrinth that «imposes» its presence upon the viewer. Like city noise, the mobile is a dynamic structure that is never static. It fills the space around the viewer, visualizing the invisible pressure of the information environment.
The mobile is both a model of a city composed of signs and a mental map of the contemporary citizen, saturated with visual «traces.» Our project invites the viewer to pause and recognize this invasiveness—to view familiar symbols as autonomous objects, stripped of meaning.
