After the collapse of the USSR, when looking out into the yard, one could always see pensioners rooting through trash bins to find sustenance. The artist Shaburov, like any normal person, tried to ignore it. Who knows what happens to everyone?
He himself was guided by the myths that in the new capitalist Russia, we would all become millionaires—successful and independent of anyone.
However, artists are not fools, and over time, even if not immediately, they understood everything.
Therefore, at some wonderful moment, Shaburov and his partner from the «Blue Noses» group decided to try on a much more realistic persona—impoverished representatives of a third-world country, albeit resilient ones.
In the continuation of this series, shot at the Biennale in Montenegro, the same characters ended up inside a new social paradise—the sea, the sun, the beach, foreign brands, cocktails, and the ability to not work.

Blue Noses. From the «Merry Beggars» series. 2001
