Concept Overview
It is quite challenging to establish roots in a big city. Many people are constantly moving—due to rent, work, studies, financial circumstances, or simply because they can’t find a place they can finally call home.
For me, the rug is a very intuitive symbol of home: of coziness, daily life, a familiar space. In contrast, the cargo container speaks to transport, moving, and constant motion. This results in an object that simultaneously looks domestic and like something meant for continuous transit. Thus, the work explores the home that is perpetually moving along with the person.
